Working at Reconciliation
The work of God in our lives now becomes our message to the world. A Christian, with the Spirit of God indwelling them, is given the ministry of reconciliation. That ministry is comprised of actions and witness.
In action we live out before others the work of reconciliation. That is to say that we show others that we have been reconciled by the way we live our lives and that we attempt to bring reconciliation to others. We become peacemakers. We become agents of peace. We become a people of unity and not division. We express love toward others that emanates from the love God has shown to us. Those around us are encouraged to live in peace because of the attitude of peace that we exhibit.
But our ministry of reconciliation is not limited to actions before others for we are also given the message of reconciliation. We are ambassadors for Christ. We are to implore, beg, urge others to “Be reconciled to God.” That is our message. It is as though God were making his appeal through us.
Let me ask you. How much peace have you brought to others because of the way you have acted? How much because of your attitude? Do others regard you as a peacemaker or a troublemaker? In general, do you encourage others to unity or division? How do your facebook posts match up to the role of a peacemaker?
Even more so, if you were the only ambassador to your home, would the message of the one who sent you be heard? What if you were the only ambassador to you school? Your work? How persistent of an ambassador for Christ have you been? Is it possible to be an ambassador without saying anything?
