North Carolina 2026

In March of 2026 we brought a work team back to Spruce Pine, North Carolina, to work on projects with North Carolina Baptists on Mission. They continue to help families devastated by Hurricane Helene in the Fall of 2024.

Our team of 12 divided in half for work.

#1 – One team is built a needed storage building for the volunteer center in Spruce Pine. They need a building to store propane tanks and other items. This took 2 1/2 days and then the team started working on a deck on the front of the volunteer center. On Thursday that work was slowed some because of SNOW! Just a little, not accumulation, but it was COLD. They finished that project on Friday morning.

#2 – The second team worked on the home of an elderly single woman. They completed the installation of a roof over her mobile home located on the side of a mountain. They added soffits and fascia boards to finish this project. Then he team worked in her bathroom. They repaired some water damage and installed green board, as well as tape and float the walls.TheyfinishedthatworkonFriday.

#3 – On Thursday a couple of us took on another project, since our outside team was grounded in the morning. Keith and I went over to Mildred and Bill’s to work on their bathroom. They are an elderly couple, both suffering from cancer. They had a new shower installed but it hadn’t been finished where they could use it. They also needed a new floor and a higher, handicapped toilet. We installed green board, did the tape and float, and put down new flooring. We completed all of our work Friday morning.

Our team worked tirelessly all week to complete the projects we had. We appreciate all the volunteers with Baptists on Mission in North Carolina for helping to make this possible.
